The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL), Karachi, organized a prestigious Cheque Distribution Ceremony on April 18, 2025, to honor and award its passed-out students for their exceptional Final Year Projects (FYPs). The event took place at the university’s main campus and was marked by a spirit of achievement and recognition.
The Worthy Vice Chancellor of BBSUL, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mehdi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Registrar of BBSUL, Dr. Haider Raza, was present as the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome note delivered by Dr. Mazhar Ali, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. In his address, he extended heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, esteemed faculty members, and students for their presence. Dr. Mazhar highlighted the significance of the event in encouraging innovation, research and entrepreneurship among students, especially in the field of information technology. He emphasized that such initiatives not only reward students for their hard work and dedication but also foster a culture of applied learning and industry engagement. He also acknowledged the efforts of faculty supervisors who guided the students throughout their project journeys.
The highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of cheques funded by Ignite, under the auspices of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. These cheques were awarded to students whose final year projects demonstrated innovation, societal impact, and alignment with national technological goals.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mehdi, lauded the efforts of Dr. Mazhar Ali Chairman of the department and the department. He congratulated the students and related project supervisors for their achievements. He expressed his pride in the department’s growing contributions toward digital transformation and technological advancement. He further encouraged students to continue striving for excellence and to play an active role in the IT sector, both nationally and globally.
The Registrar, Dr. Haider Raza, also appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of linking academic research with practical solutions to address real-world challenges.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by dr. Assad Abbasi and group photo session. The ceremony was a reflection of the department’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and its vision to prepare graduates who can lead in the rapidly evolving tech-driven world.
